About Us
We are 1st Step Pre-school based in Blyth, Northumberland. We are an Ofsted-registered preschool providing compassionate and educational support for children both before, during and after school. All of our staff have a full DBS check and have years of experience working with children of all ages.
We are a key believer in working with the local community and work within the same building as Timestep Activity and Dance who help us provide additional activities and holiday provisions.

1 st Step Pre-school is a new, home from home, pre-school nursery for children birth to 5 years. Pauline and Hannah Lazenby (mother and daughter) established the company after they struggled to find a local childcare setting for their child/grandchild.
Hannah’s own experience of childcare for her daughter brings a parent’s perspective to the way our nursery has been designed and set up. Elements which were incorporated into the ethos of our pre school were that children should be given a holistic approach to early learning and each child should feel a valued member of our setting.
If children are happy, secure, and feel cared for in their environment, they will reach their full potential in relation to their learning.
Useful Information
All of our settings operate between the hours of 7:30am and 5:00pm, providing a consistent and convenient schedule for families. Throughout the day, children are offered a nutritious snack at no additional cost to ensure they stay energised and focused. Our facility includes three different rooms, each tailored to meet the developmental needs of various age groups, creating a safe and engaging environment for all children in our care.
